Launched in July last year, World of Women is one of the hottest female-led NFT projects in the market. The collection features 10,000 unique and diverse female NFT avatars which have now become a favourite among celebrities like and Eva Longoria. 

“I’ve always drawn women and with my art, I’ve always tried to put women in the spotlight, show women empowerment, and highlight diversity,” Yam Karkai, artist and co-founder of the project, told in a recent . With World of Women, she hopes to bring change to the wider NFT community.

As a matter of fact, supporting one-of-one crypto artists and women-focused charities are two of the project’s core missions. For example, the WoW Fund, set up from 15% of the primary sales, highlights emerging NFT artists in the space. Apart from this, the project supports a number of women-led organisations and sustainability-focused organisations, including Code Green NFT, She’s the First, and Too Young To Wed.

It includes 10,000 NFTs generated from over 350 traits. Some of these traits include piercings, crazy hairstyles, or even a drink. The collection speaks to those into a gothic aesthetic and is quite relatable. Actually, the collection truly reflects Beckett’s art style revolving around themes of love and death, melancholy and loneliness, dark romance, and witchy vibes.

Another top female-led NFT project making waves in the space is . The project is the brainchild of Lisa Mayer, who has been educating and empowering women and girls for the past 10 years through her venture, My Social Canvas. Boss Beauties is an extension of this mission and parts of the proceeds from the sale support young women through mentorship programs and scholarships. Launched in September last year, the project has achieved some impressive feats, including becoming the first-ever NFT to be displayed at the New York Stock Exchange. 

Essentially, Boss Beauties is a collection of 10,000 diverse female avatars in different, empowering roles. Similar to female representation, Asian representation is also extremely lacking in the NFT industry. Amid this, the 8SIAN NFT project is trying to solve both these problems with its collection of 8,888 Asian women NFTs. The project, founded by Nicole, aims to “represent and showcase the many cultures and heritage of Asia in the virtual world”. True to their mission, the NFTs showcase diverse women from various Asian cultures.

Centred around the themes of natural beauty, purity, and diversity, the NFTs are nothing short of exquisite fine art pieces.

In a short span of time, the project has raked in over $13 million in trade volume. Acclaimed visual artist, Maliha Abidi created the collection of 10,000 NFTs representing women across the globe. A Pakistani-American artist, Abidi has been advocating for social justice through her art. 

In fact, the collection celebrates “activists, artists, scientists, coders and many others rising to make the world a better place!” A primary goal of the project is to support gender equality causes in the world. For this, they have dedicated 7.5% of the proceeds to international organisations that fight for women’s rights, gender equity, girls’ education, and more. 

Created by Canadian illustrator Rachel Winter, is a tribute to the “diversity and power of women’s stories”. The collection of 6,000 NFTs features messages of hope and inspiration in 10 languages. The vibrant colours and bold patterns, taking inspiration from fashion, feminism, and cultural diversity make the NFTs quite attractive. Launched just last month, the collection sold out and has so far amassed over in trade volume. 

Similar to many other female-led NFT projects, Remarkable Women’s focus on women empowerment goes beyond its artwork. Firstly, 10% of the primary sales go to the Fund for Women’s Equality. Secondly, 10% of all secondary sales are set aside for the Remarkable Women’s Impact Fund. 9. Long Neckie Ladies

Another inspirational female-led NFT project is Long Neckie Ladies created by 13-year-old girl Nyla Hayes. Touted as a “collection for dreamers”, Long Neckie Ladies is a fine art collection of 3,333 diverse female avatars. All the NFTs in the collection are unique and algorithmically generated from Hayes’ hand-drawn traits. What makes the pieces unique is their elongated neck, inspired by the young artist’s favourite dinosaur, the Brontosaurus.

With her NFT collection, Hayes created waves in the NFT space. After all, Long Neckie Ladies’ trade volume has already crossed $4 million on , with a 0.569 floor. Remarkably, Hayes also created history as TIME Magazine’s 1st NFT Artist in Residence. Additionally, she has won several awards including NFT.NYC 2021 Emerging Artist of the Year and Future 50’s most influential people in tech in 2021. Kumo x World Residents is a collection of 6,666 NFTs from female artist Nikki Siu Hai. The Kumo Residents are generated from over 500 traits and feature nine different classes. These include Ape, Harajuku, Foodie, Creative, and Ninja, among others. So far, the project’s sales volume has reached $8 million.

Each Kumo Resident holder can become an explorer and roam the Kumo world, where they can meet other explorers. Together, they can also take part in expeditions. Apparently, the project uses a portion of sales to support children and mental health charities. Besides, the team is planning to release a children’s storybook NFT. Their roadmap also includes Kumochis (companion NFTs) and KxW coins. 

Female-led NFT projects like those mentioned above bring forth a much-needed change in the NFT space. However, this is just the beginning and we hope these projects inspire more women to join the space. Nonetheless, as a first step, the industry can champion diversity and inclusivity by supporting existing female-led projects in the space.

Художники Antsstyle и Erika-Xero отмечают, что сам по себе токен — оригинальный и невзаимозаменяемый, однако привязать его можно к любому файлу и сколько угодно раз. То же самое могут делать и злоумышленники, причём использовать картинки и видео, уже привязанные к другим токенам, никто не запрещает.

Например, если вы удалите свою работу или её удалит площадка из-за нарушения авторских прав, токен останется у владельца — и его можно будет использовать повторно (в нём просто останется соответствующая пометка). Если покупатель и художник не заключили стороннее соглашение о передаче авторских прав, то все права целиком остаются у автора работы, какую бы он цену не просил за NFT.

По сути токен — это оригинальная цифровая подпись (сертификат) со ссылкой, которая ведёт к jpeg-файлу (то есть файла в нём нет). NFT не даст скопировать блокчейн, в рамках которого тот работает, но вот копировать и перезаливать файл площадки не запрещают.

Трейдеры зарабатывают на NFT-кредитах

Показателен и пример с NFT-кредитами на платформе NFTFi, которую ресурс CoinDesk назвал «ломбардом для NFT». Там пользователям предлагают в долг криптовалюту, а в качестве залога просят оставлять свои токены. Если пользователь не может отдать долг, его NFT забирает платформа.

Так один из трейдеров занял у платформы 3.5 эфира (около 12 тысяч долларов) и взамен предложил NFT, который стоил 3.25 эфира. За три месяца стоимость этого токена достигла 300 тысяч долларов. Трейдер не стал возвращать долг, NFTFi забрала токен и получила с него прибыль (он подорожал). Позже выяснилось, что этот NFT уже использовали как залог по кредиту, но его предыдущий владелец объявил себя банкротом. Разработчик не может отобрать у вас сам сертификат, но ему ничего не мешает «отвязать» его от внутриигрового контента. Снова разные принципы работы «под капотом» с идентичными результатами для игроков. Сравните: «Юбисофт отобрала у игроков уникальную винтовку» и «Юбисофт перестала давать доступ к уникальной винтовке владельцам NFT на неё».

NFT-транзакции вредят природе и приближают нас к глобальному потеплению

Для производства одного токена необходима электроэнергия, причём в немалых количествах. Сервера блокчейнов работают круглосуточно и потребляют электричество, повышая выделение углекислого газа. Эко-активисты считают, что подобная технология приближает глобальное потепление.

Художник Жани Лемерсье отменил продажу своей крипто-картины через площадку Nifty Gateway. По его словам, создание нескольких крипто-токенов по затратам энергии сравнимо с электроэнергией, которую художник тратит в своей студии за два года работы.

Жани заявил, что не будет продавать работы в цифре и создавать токены, пока проблема не решится. Сейчас художник ищет площадки, которые потребляют мало электроэнергии. Помимо этого, Лемерсье ограничил потребление электроэнергии (включая затраты на отопление) у себя в студии и сосредоточился на «живых» выставках. Заодно он отказался от авиаперелётов в пользу железнодорожного транспорта и устроил кампанию, в рамках которой требовал у Autodesk перестать продавать своё ПО корпорациям, добывающим полезные ископаемые.

Большинство NFT связаны с криптовалютой Ethereum. Её сервера, по оценкам экспертов, за год потребляют больше энергии, чем Исландия. Создатели Ethereum уже много лет обещают перейти на более экологичный способ работы (Ethereum 2.0), но пока что решение «находится в разработке».

Джон Крейн, генеральный директор NFT-площадки SuperRare, считает, что «транзакции в блокчейнах ошибочно связывают с выбросами углерода и раздувают проблему на пустом месте». В качестве примера Джон приводит ситуацию с созданием не цифровой картины или скульптуры: «авиа-транспортировка произведения и освещение галерей тоже сопровождаются выбросами углекислого газа, но по этому поводу никто не переживает».

Как работает NFT

Каждую запись в такой цепочке называют токеном. В открытом блокчейне все токены можно заменить на идентичные, однако в системе NFT этого сделать нельзя. Если у вас есть, например, биткоин — его можно поменять на другой биткоин, идентичный вашему. NFT-токены — уникальные, заменить их невозможно.

Именно благодаря таким токенам любой желающий может легко закрепить права на уникальный цифровой объект — картинку, видео или предмет в игре. Иными словами, NFT позволяет купить не сам товар, а право собственности на него, прикрепив токен с данными о владельце к файлу.

Любой художник, желающий прикрепить токен к своей работе, может использовать площадки OpenSea или Rarible. Примечательно, что OpenSea создает NFT-токены только после того, как на них найдётся покупатель. В таком случае автору не нужно платить комиссию блокчейну Ethereum. Площадка Rarible, наоборот, создает токены сразу после загрузки работы в сервис и берёт с автора комиссию.

Это же только для «владения» картиночками?

Нет. Хоть NFT и получили свой взрывной рост из-за торговли картинками, это не единственное их применение. Просто так получилось, что именно с картинками эта штука работает лучше всего. По сути это то же самое, что и владение оригиналом художественного произведения — если вас не смущает, что есть люди, готовые заплатить 72 миллиона долларов за «Белый центр (жёлтое, розовое и лиловое на розовом)» Марка Ротко, то и продажа NFT как подтверждения подлинности «оригинала» не должна сильно удивлять.

Ключевая разница в том, что поучаствовать в сделках с NFT обычному человеку намного проще, чем в покупке реальных картин, из-за чего и сформировался довольно большой и активный рынок, где все верят в «теорию большего дурака». Вот в этом исследовании (eng) пишут, что в марте 2021 токенов продавалось на 10 миллионов долларов в день.

Многие авторы до сих пор борются с мошенниками, доказывают подлинность своих работ и засыпают площадки вроде OpenSea просьбами удалить залитый без их ведома крипто-арт. Чтобы обезопасить себя от подобного, нужно помнить несколько простых правил.

• Сохранять на оффлайн-носителе оригинальный файл .psd (или любой другой) с исходником вашего арта.
• Не заливать исходные файлы в сеть. Возможность продемонстрировать процесс вашей работы — самое главное доказательство авторства.
• Размещать большие вотермарки на арте в публичном доступе. Так мошенникам будет труднее украсть и продать вашу работу.
• Закрыть все свои заброшенные аккаунты (или скрыть в них все работы), чтобы мошенники не смогли вытащить из них контент и выдать его за свой.
• Если у вас есть Твиттер, нужно забанить аккаунт бота @tokenizedtweets и ему подобных. Если бот уже привязал токен к вашему арту, оспорить авторство можно на сайте tokenizedtweets.com.

Будущее NFT

Токены могут навсегда изменить систему, по которой работают авторские права на цифровой контент, и защитить крипто-картины и видео от незаконного копирования. Также NFT сильно облегчит тяготы с авторскими правами для музыкантов и позволит стриминговым сервисам быстрее лицензировать фильмы и сериалы.

В целом операции с NFT-токенами проходят гораздо быстрее, чем операции с физическими предметами, что тоже положительно сказывается на процессе реализации. Пользователям будет проще поддерживать любимых авторов, не прибегая к использованию сторонних ресурсов и систем. При этом они получат эксклюзивные права на владение купленным крипто-артом.

Художникам иногда приходится идти на крайние меры и закрывать свои галереи

«К сожалению, я вынужден полностью закрыть свою галерею на DeviantArt» — такое сообщение опубликовал комиксист Лиам Шарп, рисовавший серии Green Lantern и Wonder Woman для DC. Его работы украли со странички на DA (художник пользовался площадкой 14 лет) и выставили на продажу в виде NFT-коллекции.

Шарп жаловался администрации OpenSea и требовал удалить со страниц магазина свои работы, однако, по словам художника, «его неоднократно проигнорировали».

В свете событий администрация DevianArt ввела систему DeviantArt Protect, которая призвана обезопасить художников от кражи работ. Однако система не защищает арт напрямую, а лишь отслеживает случаи, когда его заливают на NFT-площадки без разрешения, после чего присылает художникам уведомления. Дальше они должны слать жалобы на контент и разбираться самостоятельно. Систему разрабатывали в сотрудничестве с площадкой OpenSea.

От действий злоумышленников в том числе пострадали художники Loish, Nesskain, Андре Риос, концепт-художник «Детектива Пикачу» Р. Дж. Палмер и русская художница Ольга Ануфриева, работы которой на NFT-сервисах заметили подписчики.

Проблемы NFT

Сайт ArtStation тоже хотел внедрить технологию NFT. В результате тысячи художников в Твиттере стали угрожать тем, что удалят свои аккаунты с сайта. На фоне скандала представители ArtStation обратились к пользователям и авторам, сообщив, что в ближайшее время не будут использовать NFT-токены. В заявлении объяснялось, что на систему есть большой спрос со стороны многих художников, однако руководство не будет внедрять систему из-за влияния на экологию и общественного недовольства.

Сейчас многие блокчейн-компании работают над уменьшением воздействия своих систем на окружающую среду.

Мошенники. После ажиотажа вокруг продажи и покупки крипто-арта многие художники подверглись атакам, в результате которых их работам, находящимся в публичном доступе, незаконно присваивались NFT-коды. Таким образом мошенники присвоили много разных работ, грубо нарушив авторские права. После этого воры стали активно продавать украденные картины.

Это привело к созданию целого движения. Тысячи авторов просили друг друга остерегаться преступников, делились ссылками на их страницы и призывали блокировать тех, кто незаконно добавлял NFT к их твитам.

NFT как отмывание денег

По мнению художника Antsstyle, сейчас всё чаще NFT используют скупщики и арт-дилеры для отмывания денег. Рынок токенов он сравнивает с «Диким Западом» из-за отсутствия регулировки и правовых норм. Дело в том, что все сделки с NFT, даже на очень крупные суммы, сейчас не облагаются налогами, из-за чего предприниматели и злоумышленники используют систему как средство для перевода денег с кошелька на кошелёк без комиссии и вычетов. Любой пользователь может создать простое изображение (или взять уже существующее) и привязать к нему токен с ценником в 100 тысяч долларов, после чего продать его своему деловому партнёру или перевести на свой же аккаунт с другим адресом.

Например, уже упомянутый художник Beeple после сделки на 69 млн долларов запустил ещё один аукцион с новой работой. По мнению Antsstyle, эта продажа оказалась обычным переводом. Работу купил бизнес-партнёр художника, который хотел «освоить» накопившуюся криптовалюту и перевести её в другой актив, пока не упал курс.

Бывший директор рыночных исследований блокчейн-консорциума R3 Тим Суонсон считает, что «невзаимозаменяемые токены уже используются не только для отмывания преступных доходов, но и для уклонения от уплаты налогов». Он утверждает, что счёт с налоговыми обязательствами покупает токен у неизвестного аккаунта, а затем перепродает третьему лицу по более низкой цене, получая убыток, который компенсирует вышеупомянутые налоговые обязательства. То есть по записям получается, что он не зарабатывает, но на деле осваивает нужные средства.

И как сейчас планируют применять NFT в играх?

Как собаке пятую ногу. Помните пример с реестром недвижимости? Видимо, теперь в условном Assassin’s Creed мы будем покупать не скин огненной брони, а сертификат, который даёт скин огненной брони в игре. Дополнительное логическое звено буквально без какого-то смысла, кроме маркетингового.

Я не отрицаю, что, наверное, можно построить хорошую игру целиком на концепции невзаимозаменяемых токенов, но в ближайшие годы это удел авторских инди. Скажем, у Молиньё может выйти что-то этакое, хотя на текущий момент его концепция ничем не отличается от Star Citizen, авторы которого продают игрокам виртуальные кораблики и гектары без всяких блокчейнов (а олды могут вспомнить Entropia Universe с торговлей виртуальной землей). Еще можно вспомнить проект «Криптокотята», который с натяжкой относится к играм: он основан на механизме «скрещивания» и получения новых уникальных котят, что как-то оправдывает применение NFT.

В крупных же проектах вроде S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 или игр Юбисофт токены пока планируется использовать просто как обертку для традиционных технологий выкачивания денег из игроков: продажи скинов, бонусов за предзаказы и так далее. Попробуйте сами найти разницу между «разработчики продадут NFT на облик человека в игре» и «разработчики добавят в игру внешность пяти бэкеров, вложивших по тысяче баксов».

Или между обещанным маркетплейсом Юбисофт и торговой площадкой Стима.

Да, сторого говоря, «под капотом» они будут работать на разных технологиях (и то пока это просто слова), но для игроков, скорее всего, не будет никакой разницы. Вам безразлично, фиксируется ли информация о вашей покупке где-то в централизованной базе данных или в блокчейне — важно лишь то, что вы получаете в игре доступ к определенному контенту, за который заплатили. Ну а компании выгодно привлечь внимание к своему продукту использованием модных слов.

Но вот шутки про копипаст джипегов имеют мало общего с реальностью, ведь в играх NFT подтверждают права не на какую-то картинку, а на определенный внутриигровой контент.

Кто использует NFT

На данный момент технология может работать с большим количеством видов контента — картинками, видео, анимациями и даже мемами.

Художник из Южной Каролины Майк Винкельман a.k.a Beeple, о котором мы упоминали выше, выставил на аукционе Christie’s огромный коллаж из 5 тысяч цифровых изображений, которые он ежедневно рисовал на протяжении 13 лет. Для знаменитого аукционного дома продажа полностью цифрового арта оказалась первой за всю историю существования Christie’s. 11 марта коллаж продали за рекордные 69 миллионов долларов.

Так же NFT-токены активно используют в играх с внутренними покупками для того, чтобы подтвердить владение виртуальными предметами — комплектами брони, оружием, зданиями и скинами. Это нужно, в первую очередь, для того, чтобы игроки могли переносить предметы между своими аккаунтами, перепродавать их, а также с помощью токенов заявлять о владении. При этом у игроков нет авторских прав на эти предметы, они всё ещё находятся у компании-разработчика, однако NFT-токен подтверждает неоспоримое право собственности внутри системы.

Но самый необычный способ использовать NFT-токены продемонстрировала компания Injective Protocol. Она купила работу Morons (White) художника Бэнкси за 95 тысяч долларов и во время трансляции в Твиттере сожгла картину. После этого компания привязала невзаимозаменяемый токен к цифровой версии уничтоженной работы.

Теперь Morons (White) существует только в цифре и принадлежит Injective Protocol. Компания объявила, что пошла на такой шаг для того, чтобы создать из физической работы полноценный крипто-арт, который существует только в цифровом пространстве.

Помимо картин и музыки, благодаря NFT на аукционе смогли продать и полноценный мем. В прошлом месяце из под молотка ушёл популярный в десятых годах Nyan Cat — пиксельный кот, который летит сквозь космос под веселую чиптюн-мелодию. Мем стоил будущему обладателю около 580 тысяч долларов.
