As the NFT (Non-Fungible Token) market continues to grow, it’s time to start looking at all the opportunities it has to offer. Lots of crypto games utilize NFTs in their systems, but some existing popular titles could also make big waves in the NFT space. A lot of NFTs offer a collection of different avatars or monsters, such as some NFT games. This naturally makes it a perfect fit for Pokemon. While Pokemon NFTs are occasionally shared, there’s some confusion on if there’s real Pokémon NFTs or not. This is what you need to know about them.

Zombies get everywhere. They pop up in casual mobile games, AAA console games, and everything in between.
Currently in development, YoHunt sees you hunting zombies with a bow and arrow and capturing the ones you defeat.
There are tons of different zombies to collect, and here’s the beauty part: each one that you add to your inventory is an NFT. That means it’s yours to trade for YoKen – the game’s native cryptocurrency token – on the in-game marketplace.
You can think of YoHunt as a sort of zombie-themed Pokemon GO!, but with a few crucial differences.
For one, it lets you earn cryptocurrency, with real monetary value.
For another, its supply of zombies is restricted by design, ensuring that each one holds its value and, just as importantly, its novelty. Catching a rare zombie is a heart-pounding challenge and a genuine thrill.
And a potential boost to your personal finances.

We’ve noted before that Niantic leadership is heroically awful at reading the freaking room on a number of matters, so perhaps it should come as no surprise that CEO John Hanke is looking in the direction of web3, crypto, and NFT gaming.
This revelation was part of Hanke’s address during Niantic’s Lightship Summit (the same one that unveiled plans for an AR social media app and an AR gamedev toolkit), when Hanke recalled meeting folks from SpotX Games, a self-described “web3 innovation studio for the real-world metaverse” that is concepting a crypto-based scavenger hunt game where players visit locations in a city, interact with them through an AR app on their phones, and generate an NFT to highlight the location, all for a chance at a cash prize.
All of Niantic’s plans for crypto, NFTs, and web3 all sound extremely tenuous and exploratory for the most part, but at the same time Niantic did acquire SpotX Games this week, so there is clearly a lot of pursuit of this space in the books.
But that was in April.
In the first week of May, as the crypto markets tanked and Terra’s ecosystem collapsed, Stepn’s GST (Green Satoshi) token went off a cliff. It’s now trading at $0.18, a 97% drop from its all-time high close to $9 on April 28.
Now GST is at 18 cents, and running a few miles with an entry-level sneaker NFT will earn you less than $1.
The app’s adherents say that Stepn signifies something far more significant: a proof case for NFTs with real utility. Many in the Web3 believe this is where NFTs are headed: beyond a pure digital flex and into the realm of actual use cases, whether in «GameFi» or in-person event ticketing.
Manghani calls the app «an investment into health with a mindset of NFTs.»
She continued, «One could arguably question why pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for monkey JPEGs, dare I say, or just for art on the wall. There is a different mindset with regards to digital money, crypto money, NFTs. And how to use that for positive benefit, for social impact, is something that we’re solving for.»
They’re attracted by the application of digital tokens to an outdoor activity (Stepn won’t work with a treadmill; you must walk, jog, or run outside). «It’s pretty much very diametrically opposite to this dystopian myth of Ready Player One,» Manghani said. «We have about 100,000 people running every minute: out in reality, not in the .»
Manghani says Stepn’s activation codes—you can’t yet sign up unless you obtain a code from someone—was one of many «hard calls» Stepn has taken to avoid speculators.

Axie Infinity?
Axie Infinity:
- Beast – зверь
- Aquatic – водный
- Plant – растение
- Bug –
- Bird – птица
- Reptile –
- Mech – механический
- Dawn – свет
- Dusk –

- Дейли-квест, за выполнение которого можно было заработать 25 SLP;
Axie (AXS)?

Axie Infinity:

Niantic has unveiled its Pokemon Go successor, Peridot, an augmented reality pet simulator with more similarities to Nintendogs or Tamagotchi than its hit monster-catching game. The game is due to release “in the next week or so,” according to Niantic’s senior producer Ziah Fogel.
Peridots, the titular monsters central to the game, are entirely unique to each player, and the idea is to breed this fictional, thought to be extinct, species to increase its population. Fogel has been working on Peridot for two and a half years, and says that NFTs are an “interesting idea and something that we’re obviously looking at,” but the team is focused on getting the game up and running first and foremost.
While that may disappoint some fans, many studios have backtracked on NFT integration over the past year after player backlash, something which Niantic should take into account when weighing up the pros and (numerous) cons of introducing NFTs to its family game. Fogel herself says that Peridot is designed to appeal to a more casual fanbase than Niantic’s other games, to the extent that people who may not consider themselves gamers might be interested in playing.

The fact that Peridot is aimed at all players, of all ages, doesn’t stop its basic premise from being about getting the Dots (that’s abbreviated lingo for Peridots, if you didn’t realise) in the mood. Unlike the boxes of thousands of Pokemon you keep in Go, you have one partner Peridot that you raise from a baby to an adult over the course of a few days, fulfilling its needs by completing tasks.
When it reaches adulthood, however, you take your Dot to a point of interest — likely the same POIs that make up PokeStops and Ingress Portals — to breed it with the Dot that’s already there, either an NPC or left by another player. Each of these Habitats has a specific mutation, and you can use it to breed Peridots with specific traits — a leopard pattern, a unicorn horn, you get the picture. Then you raise your new Peridot, and the process starts over.
Of course, just like in the wild, these mutations aren’t guaranteed. There are myriad factors in producing the offspring you want, from the Peridots having compatible personality types to using items to get them in the mood to, you know. Whether these items will be a Lionel Richie vinyl or a more natural aphrodisiac is as of yet unknown — a wind chime is confirmed — but the whole game comes down to making your pet creature shag.

It’s the solitary nature of the Peridots themselves that I find the most interesting — you can use a Summoning Wisp to look at and play with Peridots you’ve deposited at Habitats, but you only keep one Dot at a time, and it seems like you have to return to your most recent Dot to continue the selective breeding process and keep the gameplay loop going.
Fogel says that there is a strong social element to the game, and sharing pictures on social media is so easy they had to disable it for testers. Community Day-style events are also on the cards, which she envisions as being similar to an AR Crufts, where I can only assume players show off their Peridots to each other.
The game has in-app purchases that can speed up Peridots’ growth rates and happiness, and Fogel can’t confirm whether any of the mechanics will crossover into Pokemon Go in the future (“not something I can talk about,” she says). Seeing as Go already has the (admittedly flawed) egg system for hatching Pokemon, revamping breeding in such a big way seems unlikely.
Peridot seems to be the pinnacle of Niantic’s augmented reality software that it has been implementing into titles like Go for years. There is a large focus on playing with your Peridot in AR mode, and the camera recognises the terrain your creature is playing on and obstacles in its way to create a seamless AR experience. Its pet simulator DNA is impossible to ignore, and it looks like the final stage evolution of Tamagotchi (with Nintendogs obviously being the middle evo). Compared with the constant grinding that Pokemon Go expects you to do, I’m looking forward to a change of pace.

By April, grossly underpaid players—often from the Philippines, where the average monthly income is about $800 USD—were dropping out of the game en masse due to diminishing returns. Axie’s goal, in part, has seemed to be to confuse people enough to make them believe in it—it’s complicated and cost-intensive both to begin playing the game and to continue playing it. But for its ill-treated players, the $600 million hack and the dwindling faith in crypto revealed that Axie was not the transformative approach to work it presents itself as. Instead, it’s an incredibly vulnerable economy that requires vulnerable people’s labor to continue plodding ahead.
56,000 of that ETH is wrapped Ethereum (wETH) stolen from the (decentralized organization) Treasury, which distributes funds to the Axie community and AXS holders. Axie Infinity says in its newsletter that it is working “with law enforcement to recover the funds,” and if “the funds are not fully recovered within two years, the Axie DAO will vote on next steps for the treasury.”
As the NFT market continues to skyrocket with the convergence of the traditional art world with corporate companies like the NBA experimenting with Non-fungible tokens, it’s only logical to begin looking at all the opportunities for the future of collectables and how NFTs may make sense. This is the first in a series of blogs that will dissect the feasibility and likelihood of major enterprises embracing the NFT space. In fact, we recently used Pokemon as a key example of how to explain NFTs to someone that doesnt get it yet. Spoiler: We gotta catch them all.
Why Pokemon will become NFTs
Pokémon is a Japanese media franchise managed by The Pokémon Company, a company founded by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. The franchise was created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995, and is centered on fictional creatures called Pokémon, which humans, known as Pokémon Trainers, catch and train to battle each other for sport.
Pokémon is already one of the most recognized brands in the world. From their origin on the gameboy to collectable card games (CCGs), manga, multiple tv-series, and a live-action / CGI hybrid starring Ryan Reynolds, Pokémon has remained a socioeconomic phenomenon for over a generation, and they aren’t slowing down.
Pokemon has all the elements of a great NFT. They’re collectable. They have built in rarity. The exist cross-platform. They are already embraced by digital natives comfortable with digital and micro-transactions.
Pokemon and Accessibility
Nintendo and Pokémon have been trying to figure out how to make digital collectables cross-platform for nearly the entirety of the franchise. One feature that Pokémon has always been good about maintaining is that you can’t collect all Pokémon from one game per generation. Some argue that this is pure Capitalism selling the same game with minor differences twice, but the company contests that Pokémon is an inherently social game and by limiting Pokémon access, you have to find trade partners in the real world which adds levels of sociability. With the release of Pokémon GO and the latest Pokémon games on 3DS and Switch, they’ve turned this vision into a reality. Now collectors can trade, battle, and engage with real-world Trainers based entirely on proximity. Imagine if those battles, evolutions, and trades could have real-world tangible impact. Once again, a great opportunity for the NFT space.
Built in NFT Rarity (we see you Mewtoo)
Pokemon NFT Opportunities
The NBA has already proven that there is a massive market for collectables. Even if they’re common, knowing how many exist and which one you may own presents wonderful opportunities for collectors. They’ve already tested common packs with multiple series that allow collectors the ability collect the same player with different moments and even in different seasons. Pokemon could do this and make it fair to collectors allowing them to collect their favorite pokemon with different levels of rarity that maintain a global market and continue to allow value growth for collectors.
Pokemon NFT Challenges
Ethereum 2.0 promises to fix all of this by increasing the scalability and providing some level of consistency to the insane ETH gas prices that collectors suffer through today. A massive media engine like Pokemon can’t enter the NFT market until all of this has been streamlined. The brand would suffer and with companies like Nintendo being inherently risk-adverse, unfortunately Pokemon NFTs do not appear eminent.
They may not be the first, but they will be the biggest NFT market

No. 1: Pokémon NFT Game
Players compete in battles with NFTs, each one of which has a unique set of skills, a “pumping system, and evolution,” according to a description. The idea is to choose a starting set of Pokémon “from the original franchise,” which will determine a player’s success over their rivals. Players will encounter dangers in the virtual world and will have to fight.

Here’s a pik-at some Pokémon NFTs:

The Pokémon NFT Game reached several critical milestones in February, culminating in a tournament in which the tally for the prizes was $40,000 USDT in crypto. The awards also include a trio of premium Pokémon accounts.
While the tournament may have ended on Feb. 25, it appears that it was only the beginning of the festivities. On Feb. 26, the project launched a Marketplace where players could swap their Pokémon characters with one another.
No. 2: Kryptomon

The Kryptomon community has already grown to over 350,000 fans.
No. 3: Axie Infinity (PokéMon-inspired)
Axie is a hit with many Pokémon fans, not only for the parallels but also because it gives nostalgic gamers an opportunity to go back in time, if only in their minds, and bring play-to-earn games back to the future. Axies are said to be fierce in their ability to “battle, build, and hunt for treasure.” Players can sell and trade their NFTs for a crypto profit. According to market data site Crypto Slam, Axie Infinity NFT sales have crossed the $4 billion threshold over time.

No. 4: The Last Collection

No. 5: Genesis NFT Drop
Last but not least, we’ll tap into the collector side of the Pokémon franchise. Courtyard is a company taking a hybrid approach by transforming physical assets into NFTs. Courtyard has an actual vault that stores physical collectibles that are then tokenized into NFT form. Courtyard’s NFTs take 3-D format and can be redeemed for the physical asset. The company’s genesis drop features Pokémon and includes a 1999 Pokémon Game Zapdos — Holo first edition.
What Does Nintendo Have To Say About It?
One thing that could catapult Pokémon NFTs into the stratosphere would be the support of game publisher Nintendo. When asked about the metaverse on the latest earnings call, Nintendo executives reportedly had this to say,
“We do have interest in this area, we feel the potential in this area, but we wonder what joy we can provide in this area and this is difficult to define right now.”

Crypto-based video games, which last year looked as if they might attract a big audience to begin collecting non-fungible tokens, have instead drawn collective outrage at perceived developer greed. Game giants have largely been fleeing the space as a result.
And so, with that in mind, today let’s talk about a prominent company that’s going in the other direction.
“I think it’s something that could have the biggest impact on this industry — but it’s also probably the most controversial thing that we could talk about,” John Hanke said.
Hanke, CEO of Pokémon Go developer Niantic, was closing out the keynote address Tuesday morning at his company’s first-ever developer summit. Niantic had already unveiled the new version of its augmented-reality developer platform, Lightship, which includes a location-mapping feature called the Visual Positioning System. Hanke also announced Campfire, a social-networking app that opens to a map and lets people find and interact with players and events for Pokémon and its other games.
Earlier this year, Niantic had met the team behind SpotX Games, a Miami-based company that describes itself as “a web3 innovation studio for the real-world metaverse.” Its specialty is creating crypto-based scavenger hunts that turn the experience of playing into digital collectibles.
Hanke was taken with SpotX’s work, and acquired the studio.
At South by Southwest in March, SpotX demonstrated a scavenger hunt game that offered cash prizes for visiting different locations in Austin and interacting with them via web-based AR tools on mobile phones. Anyone who finished the game could generate an NFT highlighting the places that players visited. It looked like this:
:format(webp)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/23587145/spotx_map.jpg)
Hanke loved that the NFT was more than a “pretty picture — it’s a memento of what you did.”
a hint of where Niantic might try to take crypto-based gaming in the future
“It’s early days here,” Hanke said on stage Tuesday. “You’re gonna be hearing more from us, I think, on this topic in the future.”
In the run-up to Tuesday’s event, I hopped on Zoom to discuss Niantic’s latest offerings with Hanke. The company proved with Pokémon Go that it could take a nascent technology like AR and take it massively mainstream, generating an estimated $5 billion in revenue in its first five years.
On stage Tuesday, he said that today’s web3 debates reminded him of when he was a young founder in the dot-com era. In 2000, Hanke co-founded a company called Keyhole; Google acquired it four years later and turned it into Google Maps.
In the late 1990s, just as now, there were plenty of get-rich-quick schemes and hucksters, he said. But there were also important ideas on the verge of becoming big businesses.
“The potential for web3 is to move us back — to a more decentralized version of the internet,” he said. “And to recapture some of that spirit and vision that was there when it started.”
Hanke told me:
Most people use an identity from one of the big companies. It’s our primary passport to everything that we do, to apps and online. In a sense, we’re selling our digital soul when we do that. It’s a habit that we’ve built up, and it’s kind of just the way things work right now. But web3 would enable us to have self-sovereign identities. So instead of using one of those buttons, you could use a web3 system that wouldn’t leak your personal information, and wouldn’t put a middleman between you and the service that you’re using that could intercept or store information in a way that you might not want to happen. So to me, that just really feels like the way it should work.
My last web3 question for Hanke was why he thought average people would be excited to see NFTs and other crypto products in their games. He said those products let players reward creators more directly, with middlemen taking a much smaller cut than before, and that people love to back independent projects. (Equally as interesting to me is what he did not say — that adding NFTs to video games would make them more fun to play.)
On one hand, it may be a little unfair to press Niantic this hard on what are clearly some very early plans. Hanke was straightforward about the fact that the company has more questions than answers about web3. NFTs may very well never come to Pokémon Go or any of its other big titles.
“Frankly, it’s really easy to dismiss that whole set of technologies, just based on some of the things we read about,” Hanke told developers. “I think that would be a huge mistake. I think there’s something really important about this technology.”
Gods Unchained

What They Are
Pokémon has been widely popular since its launch in the 90s. The game has become a cultural phenonium, stretching out to films, anime, card games, and even esports beyond its initial RPGs. The Pokémon universe has also expanded to include more than 1,000 different types of Pokémon. The collectible nature of all these different creatures is part of the appeal for the games. You need to trade with friends if you want to catch them all. Naturally, this sense of scarcity is partially why so many think Pokemon would work well with NFTs.

Why Pokémon NFTs
Pokémon has been one of the most popular brands globally for over a generation. From their origin to the various spin-offs and sequels, Pokémon has remained a cultural phenomenon. As an NFT, Pokémon has plenty of elements that makes it a great fit such as its rarity.
The NBA (National Basketball Association) has also already proven that the market for collectable items is enormous. With the various series that they’ve worked on, they’ve been able to give collectors the ability to collect player cards with different seasons and moments. This has opened up possibilities for several games and esports NFTs.
With Pokémon, they could give collectors the ability to collect different types of Pokémon, which would allow them to continue to grow and maintain a global market. Pokémon is already widely embraced by digital natives. Its unique characteristics, such as its non-fungible nature, make it a digital asset that can be used without intermediaries. With varying rarity levels, players could have access to different types of Pokémon.
Catch the Queen
At the top of the rarity tree are an array of zombie ministers, and above them Queen E. There’s only one Queen E in season 1, so if you manage to bag this ultra-rare zombie you’re not only flush with YoKen but endowed with almighty bragging rights too. In season 2 there will be a brand new unique enemy for you to capture
Alas, YoHunt isn’t actually out yet, and it won’t be out until later in 2023.
That’s because its developer is working hard on getting the gameplay right, creating a vast population of zombies, and ironing out the kinks that can otherwise bedevil a technically ambitious game like this (remember the early days of Pokemon GO!?).
Plus, YoKen needs time to establish itself within the cryptocurrency community. And that process has just begun.
The YoKen pre-sale began on October 31st, just in time for Halloween. It runs until November 14th.
This is your chance to get involved at the earliest stage.
Should the Pokemon Company Create NFTs?
When discussing NFTs in gaming Pokemon is often one that getsbrought up. For many it seems like a perfect fit. These are a few reasons why some think Pokemon NFTs would work great.
The first is the actual gameplay of the titles. Collecting monsters is a perfect fit for NFTs. While NFTs at the moment are largely JPEGs backed by a smart contract, NFT gaming is a more innovative area. Other developers are working on projects that allow you to trade Pokemon-like creatures captured in-game as NFTs. This would allow players to earn as they play Pokemon if they are integrated into mainline games in a similar way.
Another selling point would be the sheer popularity of Pokemon. Pokemon is one of the most valuable media franchises in the world and it has an in-built audience. For those looking for wider markets for NFTs, this would be a perfect fit. It would likely generate plenty of revenue for Game Freak, along with players who are trading NFTs. Game Freak would definitely benefit from NFTs, but there are some caveats here.
Problems with Pokemon NFTs
Pokemon NFTs do feel like a perfect fit, but there’s also some major downsides here too. The first would be with the integration of NFTs into Pokemon games themselves. While collecting Pokemon is key to gameplay, making them non-fungible would cause pretty big balancing problems. The balance of a Pokemon game relies on every Pokemon being accessible. Making some of them so rare that players pay decent money for them would upset the natural balance between Pokemon.
Most games have collecting all available Pokemon as a key achievement in gameplay. Making this task require a lot of actual money being spent would completely change the nature of the game. It would render the main task of ‘catching em all’ completely inaccessible to the actual target audience of Pokemon. The esports scene for Pokemon would also suffer, with the meta becoming slanted by what Pokemon are actually easily accessible.
None of these criticisms apply to using NFTs as a collectible outside of the game. This would be closer to what happens with Pokemon card, as a side business for Game Freak to allow for collecting Pokemon in a different format. Although, even these NFTs are currently controversial. While Game Freak could stand to make a lot from NFTs, they could also alienate a good portion of their fanbase.

Are There Pokemon NFTs?
NFTs are an exciting new area and lots of people are getting into NFT trading and trying to make money with NFTs. However, there’s also a lack of clarity in some places. Pokémon NFTs or projects that claim to be Pokemon NFTs pop up pretty frequently, but none of them are official. There aren’t any real Pokemon NFTs.
How to Spot Scam Pokemon NFTs
There aren’t any Pokemon NFTs available at the moment, but lots of people often claim to be selling them. When it comes to spotting scams you’ve really just got to use some common sense. Current NFT marketplaces like OpenSea essentially don’t do any verification on sellers. Anyone can claim to be selling anything. If you’re going to buy a Pokémon NFT, check their official sources. Only take the news off of their verified accounts which you can find with the blue checkmark, other accounts are imposters.
NFTs can cost quite a bit of money. It’s always wise to do a little research and make sure you’re not just taking an anonymous listing on a crypto site at its word for being the representation of the biggest gaming franchise around. Platforms like OpenSea require no verification and you can sell images without giving them any personal details. This means there’s plenty of imposters on this platform.
Do Fans Want NFTs?
The current reputation for NFTs is pretty fiercely divided. You can find plenty of people who are clamouring for Pokemon NFTs if you look.
However, these are largely coming from people who are already significantly invested into cryptocurrency. Outside of those currently holding crypto, enthusiasm is a bit less palpable.

Numerous game developers have been forced to backtrack from NFT announcements in recent weeks. Although, some newer platforms are going some way to address concerns like environmental impact. NFTs are still pretty early, so there may be time for non-crypto players to be won over.
At the moment though, an NFT release from a game dev is rarely welcomed.

Where to Find NFTs Inspired by Pokemon
While there aren’t any Pokemon NFTs that are officially licenced, there are plenty that are inspired by NFTs. Looking around on OpenSea you can easily find Pokémon-like collections.
Some of the best NFT games also offer Pokemon-like mechanics, but with each monster as an NFT with added scarcity. These NFTs inspired by Pokemon work pretty well, although they obviously don’t quite have the draw of actual official Pokemon NFTs.

Battle Racers

Alien Worlds

Axie Infinity
