Gods Unchained is a free-to-play, play-to earn PC game, and players must outsmart their opponents by building card decks that can combat a wide variety of tactics. This is not a standard rock, paper, scissors style card game. Players must use clever tactics and strategies to win. The game is underpinned by rich lore, fantasy and beautiful artwork that add further depth and dimension to this popular game.

The cards, which are NFTs, are digitally owned by players on Ethreum, and can be traded on marketplaces or used to earn meaningful currencies and items, including the ERC-20 $GODS token, through tournaments, forging cards together, or attending play-to-earn events. In-game items that are earned through playing have ample, thoughtfully planned utility that facilitates sustainability in the Gods Unchained ecosystem. Earned items can be sold on marketplaces such as Immutable X, the layer 2 scaling solution that Gods Unchained is built upon.

Chris Clay (Gods Unchained Game Director): Formerly Game Director at Magic: The Gathering Arena (MTGA), during which it went from low 8-figure to $200M ARR. Before joining the Immutable team as the Game Director for Gods Unchained, Chris spent the previous three years at Wizards of the Coast working on Magic the Gathering: Arena, first as a Principal Designer and then as Game Director. Robbie Ferguson (Co-Founder) Forbes 30 Under 30, Thiel Fellow: Robbie previously built an automated capital gains tax platform at KPMG which was licensed to Australia’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. By transforming some in-game items into NFTs, the developers have given the players actual ownership of the item. This comes with additional freedoms as, like any NFT, the in-game items can be traded without restrictions.

💡Cards in Gods Unchained are diverse in character and elements. This gives players a practically infinite number of opportunities to find their own creative solutions to different decks, and constantly come up with new strategies to gain victory, thus keeping the game more exciting and engaging. Who Is Behind Gods Unchained?

The development behind Gods Unchained is spearheaded by gaming industry veterans: Chris Clay (CEO), James Ferguson, and Robbie Ferguson. Chris Clay was the game director for Magic: The Gathering Arena, one of the world’s most popular card games. He’s led projects for EA Games and Riot Games with over 15 years experience.

James Ferguson is an MIT graduate with experience in eCommerce development. Ferguson was featured in Forbes’s “30 Under 30”. Robbie Ferguson is an Australian entrepreneur who founded KPMG, Australia’s second largest crypto exchange. He was also one of the founders of Immutable.

The team spent 3+ years developing the game and released the beta in 2020. The beta version generated a lot of hype and over 600,000 players signed up when it launched.

Leveling up & Reward Systems

💡Alternate game options and a meaningful ranking system outside of the weekend tournaments are two things that Gods Unchained is missing. But the team plans on delivering both of these features and more in the future in the form of Quests, Seasonal rewards or Special game modes.

How To Profit On Gods Unchained?

The profitable aspect of the game is “Flux”. Flux is a game resource that allows players to upgrade their free cards. The player’s ability to win battles will be influenced by the quality of their cards. If a player wins a battle, they win flux and they’re awarded a higher rank in the game. The game’s rating system is called “The Gauntlet of the Gods”. Simply put, the more a gamer plays, the higher their rank in the game and the easier their access to flux.

Flux cannot be bought or sold on the market, and has to be earned by winning battles. A player starts a battle with 30 cards on a deck and they have 30 health points. They deploy their cards in the game strategically to inflict damage on the enemy. If they kill the enemy by destroying their cards, they receive flux points and these can be used to upgrade their rank in the game and get better cards.

Gamers can play with their gods indefinitely and there are no punishments for losing a battle. Flux rewards can be scaled with each victory using a process called “Fusing”. If a player wins consecutive rounds, they win a higher amount of flux and fuse it.

Fusing is the final part of the play-to-earn model. This is where players can convert their flux to valuable NFTs and sell them on the market for GODS tokens. There are four tiers of NFT cards based on their rarity: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.

To unlock a Common card, gamers need 20 flux. To unlock a “Legendary” card (the most valuable card), gamers need 200 flux. NFT cards can be instantly withdrawn and sold on the Immutable X marketplace or used inside the game to play and win more battles.

Game Economy

God Unchained offers a free-to-play model so there no initial investment needed to participate in the game. To create a sustainable economy that empowers players to earn through play, the project has many in-game purchases to generate revenue for the whole ecosystem.

Earning Mechanics

$GODS tokens are designed to be Gods Unchained’s primary reward mechanism. The primary purpose of the $GODS token is to serve as an in-game currency being used by players to purchase new card packs and chests, craft their own NFT cards, and earn staking rewards.
