Music NFTs present a blank canvas for artists and teams to unlock incredible ideas. Early artists are just beginning to scratch the surface on what is possible with this nascent technology. Each release presents an experiment that others can learn from and build upon.

Let’s take a look at some of the most innovative music NFT so far.

Ever since the NFT space blew up early 2021, our eyes have been peeled for NFT projects to create a music-centric utility that combines artwork and sound. We are surprised we haven’t seen more of this but we imagine this is just the beginning.

Two Solana music nfts have embraced this concept and incorporated some fun toe-tapping utility that would make any music lover want to break out in a cappella. Or maybe just pick up a guitar, crank up the amp, and shred!

Musicians are the lifeblood of PixelBands as it relates to PixelBands’ mission to accelerate music on Solana. The value we bring to musicians is the marriage of innovations in royalties distributed through smart contracts on a permissionless and trust-less leger. Each NFT features a unique sound that may be played on the phantom wallet or in the community’s “studio” and will be made and submitted by a Pixelband community member. When that Pixelbands NFT is sold on the secondary market, the community artist receives 50% royalties.

Pixelband characters are divided into four categories: guitarists, drummers, pianists, and bassists. Each PixelBand NFT is an mp4 file that includes a pixel art animation and an 8 bar stem created by musicians from the PixelBands NFT community. A “Band” is formed by combining four distinct band members, each with their distinctive instrument, and the sounds combine to create a “Song.” Holders will soon be able to mint a full band and song.

PixelBands Tools for CreatorsPixelBands Holder ToolkitCreating music on-chain is the future we want to build, therefore we have to build ways for Artists to take what they’ve created in their studios and get it on-chain. The first step to achieving this is to give musicians in our community the ability to take music they’ve created and mint it as a single NFT so that it can be bought and sold on a marketplace. There is no limit to the number of NFTs that can be minted, however v1 of our launchpad will require them to be minted one at a time.PixelBands LaunchPad Royalty Structure**Subject to change prior to launchIf creators have tools to create and mint music on-chain, the next logical step in a musician’s web3 journey is to monetize that creation by selling it on a marketplace. We see the opportunity for a marketplace that builds around the paradigm of owning your digital assets and where buyers and sellers have the tools they need to thrive in a both a music-creation and music-consumption ecosystem. Through the technology of the non-fungible token, musicians are able to get their instrument specific creations on chain to be used by holders to create music using our studio. Given the core utility of PixelBands NFTs are ownership and use of creative digital assets in the form of audio files, the purpose of PixelBands NFT generation releases is to (a) expand opportunities to musicians to get their music on chain, (b) grow the size and strength of the PixelBands community of musicians, and (c) provide creators with a variety of sounds that span music genres and expand the selection of instruments music creators have access to. Each SolTune is a part of the revolutionnary SolTunes NFT collection, which allows merging capabilites and community-driven music competitions.

Top Music NFTs

PixelBands

PixelBands is a collection of 4,444 pixel animated musicians — with an equal number (1,111) of guitarists, drums, keyboard, and bassists. Each of these musician nfts has a unique sound submitted by a community member, which can be combined with others. Each community member who contributed a sound will receive a 50% royalty for each sale of the nft.

Holders who collect four unique musicians will be able to form a band and create a song. Both, the band and the song can soon be minted. Full bands can be sold on the secondary marketplace and royalties collected for the song produced along with royalties for each individual musician. Pretty frickin’ cool.

Humans

The most common faction in the SolTunes universe. After receiving the eerie transmission from the EMI, human performers assume the contest is simply an overly theatrical promoter trying to stir up excitement for their new
festival. Humans are easily coaxed into performing at lesser venues for tips or «exposure.»

Androids

Androids are the product of a rogue AI built by humans to create «perfect» music.
Their algorithms suggest that eliminating humans would serve this purpose and would spare humans from the torture of hearing their own «imperfect» music.
As a consequence, Androids are obsessed with winning the MGMC.

Zombies

Demonic skeletons have risen from the Underworld with a singular goal: haunting the living with music meant only to be punishment for the damned. Mediums and psychics have confirmed that Skeletons will indeed participate in the
MGMC.

Aliens

The rarest faction in the SolTunes universe, aliens from all corners of the multiverse participate in the MGMC. They prefer to film their performances from underwater bases or beam transmissions from their home planets.

When can I mint my Soltune Band?

Minting will be possible on Signing Day. Check the top of this page for updates about the exact date. More than a trilion different bands will «audition» for you (generating 60+ million different songs) and you will be able to mint a random one with each NFT purchase.

Why is SolTunes a one-of-a-kind project?

Unlike other projects in the NFT space, SolTunes NFTs are guaranteed to be musically cohesive when combined, thanks to the SolTunes sophisticated generation algorithm. This allows combining via the merge system, called Galactic Audition Studio (GAS), as well as participating in remix competitions!

Can I manipulate my SolTunes?

Yes! With the merge system already implemented, it is possible to audition musicians from another NFT to potentially join your SolTunes band. In turn, each NFT can participate in community-wide music competitions to which each Manager (any owner of a SolTunes NFT) can submit their newly created bands.

Where will I be able to buy SolTunes on the market?

After initial auditions have concluded, SolTunes will be available for purchase on NFT marketplaces across the Solana ecosystem.

Musicians And The Pixelband NFT Project

This is a Solana NFT initiative that is created by musicians and musicians. The Pixelband NFT community wishes to make this the central location for musicians in the Solana NFT environment. PixelBands musicians will curate all sounds associated with PixelBands NFTs.

If your sound is chosen to be included in an NFT, you will receive 50% of the royalties (50% musician, 50% community wallet) for that NFT’s secondary sales. If a band uses your sound, you will receive 10% of the royalties and the other three members of the band. The individual who mints the band, known as the “producer,” earns the remaining 10%, for a total of 50% royalties.
