In its second round with OpenSea, Christie’s has officially announced the auction of fRiENDSiES NFTs by FriendsWithYou.

Buyers and collectors will get an opportunity to collaborate directly with the creators of the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to design, mint and build the hybrid pieces.

The auction will take place between 26 March 2022 and 28 March 2022. The first round was held in December 2021 when fRiENDSiES 00001 was auctioned for a price of US$425,000 (approx. S$577,000).

Christie’s has officially announced fRiENDSiES by FriendsWithYou, the first time the auction will offer its collectors an opportunity to collaborate directly with the NFT creators on the design, mint and build of the hybrid pieces.

Buyers will have a 12-hour window to design and mint their own fRiENDSiE. Those who purchase one of the nine lots will have the opportunity to purchase a mint pass, presented in sequential order. The pass will grant the buyer exclusive access to the NFT builder before it hits the public. Each of the nine designs and mints are considered one-of-a-kind fRiENDSiES. The creators FriendsWithYou, will build and gift the collector with a painted bronze sculpture of their own design, only for the nine buyers.

Elsewhere in NFTs, Yuga Labs has hit a $4 billion USD valuation after the latest funding round.

After the minting and sale of 10,000 companions, the next step for FriendsWithYou includes a venture into the gaming world. The duo will develop a Tomogachi-like game that is play-to-earn, featuring minted fRiENDSiES. The game will reward friendship communities by enhancing the values of fRiENDSiES, designed to play, socialize, and grow in VR. The value would be gained through interactions and good deeds achieved in a virtual landscape developed by FriendsWithYou team. The game launch date is set for 2023.

The fRiENDSiES metaverse will continue to grow, and further plans include the development of AR solutions that will allow collectors to have their virtual firend accompanying them wherever they go. fRiENDSiES AI will be programmed to learn about the collectors, creating an emotional relationship and a digital and human entity bond. fRiENDSiES is a Web3 community ‘of kindness’ developed by Los Angeles-based artist duo Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III’s platform FriendsWithYou.

About the auction

The goal of developing 10,000 such customised fRiENDSiES has already begun. These digital companions are numbered serially. This time, a lot of nine fRiENDSiES — 00002 and 00010 — will be auctioned.

Buyers will get a brief window of two days to close the deal and collaborate with the creators directly. The owner of each fRiENDSiE will get a chance to buy a mint pass that will be issued in sequential order. This pass will grant the buyer exclusive access to the NFT creator before it goes for public sale. Therefore, the sooner one enters the builder, the greater are the chances to build a fRiENDSiE of their dreams.

Each of the nine designs and mints is considered unique fRiENDSiES. The website mentions that starting from 28 March at 12 pm EST, the collector of fRiENDSiE 00002 will gain access to the builder. Twelve hours later, the collector of fRiENDSiE 00003 will gain access. Once that process is completed, public sale will begin on 2 April 2022 at 12 pm EST.

Other than their very own exclusive and one-of-a-kind fRiENDSiE NFT, the nine buyers will also get a painted bronze figurine of the design that they have created by FriendsWithYou.
