YBCA

STAR WARS

Celebrating a galaxy’s worth of battles between the dark side and the light, I drew a gaggle of Star Wars heroes for a poster project between Soul Assassins and Lucasfilm. Other artists involved included the likes of POSE, Mark Dean Veca, Artek, Leo Eguiarte, Dual Forces, Eye One, and Tristan Eaton. An exhibition traveled between Los Angeles and New Yorky with a finale at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

NBA, WNBA, FANATICS + HYPERFLY

A heritage capsule collection with both the NBA and WNBA in support of #StopAsianHate. The line features a mix of cultural iconography, including dragons, phoenixes and several other motifs that highlight Asian American and Pacific Islander traditions.

“Dragons and phoenixes are a staple of many Asian cultures,” says Wong of the collection’s symbolism. “The dragon represents good luck, strength, and health. Oftentimes people that live in excellence and perform outstanding feats are compared to dragons, whereas the phoenix is centered around high virtues and grace. The various aspects of the phoenix hold meaning, such as the head being ‘virtue’, the wing is ‘duty’, the back is ‘propriety’, the abdomen is ‘credibility’ and the chest is ‘mercy.’”

The collection itself features two hoodies and two t-shirts, all printed with Wong’s asian heritage-inspired graphics. The black men’s hoodie showcases the NBA’s signature logo surrounded by a white-outlined dragon design on the upper right quadrant as well as symbols of luck, prosperity and longevity down the sleeve. The NBA t-shirt mimics a similar frontal design while spotlighting both the dragon and phoenix iterations on the back.

The WNBA hoodie arrives in orange and features the organization’s logo atop a black-outlined phoenix motif next to a unifying ying-yang symbol that sits under the phrase “Rise Together.” The women’s t-shirt shows the same graphics with an enlarged version of the phoenix WNBA logo printed on the back.

The collection quickly sold out and over $20,000 USD was donated to charity.

The collection was later included in NBA2K22 where your avatar could purchase the hoodies and sport them in the video game.

SESAME STREET

From Elmo to Oscar, Sesame Street is infested by a cornucopia of fluffy creatures. This painting was created for a charity show at Known Gallery in Los Angeles, California.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER

Designs by Jasper Wong for Floyd Mayweather and TMT, as well as an interior mural at a penthouse located in Los Angeles, California.

JAMBA JUICE

Jamba Juice reached out to Jasper Wong to create a new gift card design for their stores. He created a pattern full of fruits and pirate citruses.

HEX

A collection of bags by Hex and Jasper Wong. This fun, bright collection features Jasper’s custom exterior print on three wet/dry bags coated with water-resistant material making this ideal for spring break festivities or summer hangouts.

ZIPPY’S ZIP MIN POOL PARTY

Jasper Wong utilized the ingredients from one of his favorite dishes at Zippy’s and created the Zip Min pool party. Everything from char siu to fishcakes can be found frolicking in noodles. The design was used for their cups and as wallpaper within select restaurants. Zippy’s also created a tumbler and a saimin bowl with the design.

THRILLS AND KILLS

To celebrate the release of a film titled  «Mall» and his directorial debut, Mr. Hahn of Linkin Park organized a exhibition at Known Gallery in Los Angeles, California. Jasper Wong was contacted by James Jean to be a part of the show that was themed around the movie. These were his two paintings that were created with spray paint, acrylics and ink.

Platypuses are freaks of nature and they’re also endangered. What people don’t know is the fact that they love riding tricycles even more than they enjoy looking freakish. This painting was created for a charity group exhibition at Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles, California.

MERRIE MELODIES

A private commission for Julia Huang of Intertrend. This style aims to merge abstraction and the looser painting style of Jasper Wong with his more graphic and pattern based elements of his work.

Avant Garde Diaries is a short documentary series by Mercedez Benz. FOMO MOFO

FOMO MOFO are for individuals that love art, culture, food, anime, pets, movies, cartoons, TV shows, sports, video games, crypto, NFTs, comics, sneakers, and more. We have been in love since we were kids and we are still head over heels in love as adults. We watched cartoons every Saturday morning and the fear of missing out on the next episode or arc was one of our biggest worries. That FOMO was ever-present, but it also connected people like us to a larger community that had the same passions. We would bond and talk for hours about the stories and worlds that engrossed us. This project is for those like-minded and passionate individuals that are not afraid to show the world just how much they love the FOMO!

A collaborative collection between Jasper Wong and New York based apparel company, VRY WRM.

SATURDAY MORNING

This drawing is dedicated to the countless hours that Jasper Wong sat in front of the television set on Saturday mornings. This became a sold out print at 1XRun in Detroit, Michigan and an interior mural for Michael Bennett of the Seattle Seahawks. The mural was painted with One-Shot oil based paint and acrylics.

Shirt design for the HIS and Ekiden race held in Honolulu, Hawaii. Jasper Wong designed the shirt for multiple years.

DUXTON

This collection is Duxton’s commitment to take diversity one step further, by teaching children that it’s normal to have different families, bodies, and ages. In collaboration with Jasper Wong. They have designed three unique kids’ series: Mi Familia, My Friends Come in all shapes and sizes, and age is a superpower.

Fun and joy are core to the Duxton Kids DNA, but that doesn’t mean they are scared of big feelings and ideas. The opposite: they want to help parents and children feel less alone in their journeys. THE CURE TO BOREDOM

The first in a series of two NFTs created for one of Hong Kong’s top auction houses — Poly Auction. An exhibition was held at Pacific Place in Admiralty. The artwork and prints were sold out.

HOME SLICE

Private commission for a collector — the Chen family.

Three paintings centered around ANA’s mascot for their new plane — the Honu (sea turtle). These paintings by Jasper Wong were then turned into merchandise that was given away to passengers on their inaugural flight.

TIGER BEER

Sourcing the talent of four unique artists from all corners of the globe, Tiger Beer introduced its latest series of collectable beer glasses. Commissioning Jasper Wong, Will Barras, Gisèle Scanlon, and Kozyndan, each of the glasses’ box feature the distinguished artwork of each individual. From the heavily pop culture-influenced work of Wong, to the extremely detailed work of team Kozyndan, each of the boxes make for the perfect canvas in giving a four-sided look at their finished illustrations.

ZIPPY’S ZIP MIN PICNIC

A design utilizing Jasper Wong’s Zip Min characters from the Pool Party collection for a picnic mural installed in some Zippy’s restaurant locations.

SPALDING

Through a collaboration with Jasper Wong; a well-known basketball equipment brand, Spalding; a leading footwear digital media, Sneaker News; and Cross Studios, they released a collection of artist designed basketballs that sold out immediately. Jasper Wong injected his ideas and signature designs into the collection, which create a chemistry of art and sports. And turning the basketballs from a basketball to a valuable collectible.

IS CURIOSITY

The second in a series of two NFTs created for one of Hong Kong’s top auction houses — Poly Auction. An exhibition was held at Pacific Place in Admiralty. This particular piece was sold at HKD 50,400 after a bidding war.

MICROSOFT AND VICE MAGAZINE

An original illustration by Jasper Wong for Microsoft and Vice magazine. The project then culminated into a contest where an emerging artists won a trip to collaborate with Jasper in Hawaii.

BLOOD SUCKA

Jasper Wong’s obsessions includes the likes of Blacula and sailor tattoos, so when 2Xanadu and Luma hit him up to design a fixed gear bike frame, he had to go with his tried and true favorites. It is a whole lot of love for blood suckas and decapitated vampire victims.

HOMIES 4 LIFE

A painting for the homes. Created with spray paint, acrylics, ink and love.

A Jiu Jitsu gi designed by Jasper Wong. The partnership includes a gi with matching pants, sweatshirt and tote bags. All of the items are embellished with Japanese motifs. The standout item is an eight ounce canvas jacket featuring embroidered tiger elements on both sleeves and a dark cloud pattern on the lapels and collar. Co-branding labels are also featured in the design execution of all products.

A tantalizing illustration of exploitation film star Blacula for an issue of Boo Mag. It’s an Australian magazine that focuses on fashion, design, art, and music. It’s a quarterly treat for your eyeballs.

SLOWTIDE

A Hawaii themed all over pattern by Jasper Wong for a towel company called Slowtide.

TOMORROW’S RAINBOWS

Tomorrow’s Rainbows is inspired by the quote that reads, “Today’s teardrops are tomorrow’s rainbows.” It speaks to the dark times that we all collectively experienced to the pandemic and is a reminder that better times are ahead of us.

The original painting was created as a commission for a collector. It was subsequently turned into a Persian rug with “Art in Rug”.

SATURDAZE

A series of 41 NFTs that were released in partnership with MakersPlace. The entire collection sold out in less than a day.

The collection is called, “Saturdaze”. Below text by Jasper.

FALSE IDOLS

The false idols of Mr. T and Hulk Hogan. Mohawks, pitiful fools and 27 inch pythons. These paintings were part of a group exhibition in France.

PUMA

Patterns and designs for Puma. Utilized for a collaborative event with Big Bad Wolf in Los Angeles geared towards kids celebrities.

SUPER SPIRIT BOMB

Inspired by the anime of both my childhood and adulthood, «Super Spirit Bomb» attempts to honor the great heroes of Japanese pop culture.

ACE HOTEL

Ace Hotel tapped Jasper Wong on the shoulder to do some art for one of their hotel rooms. He accepted the offer with outstretched arms and proceeded to do a large scale drawing in gold ink. It was excellently framed and installed by the maestros of Ice Cold Frames. You can currently find the work in loft suite 611 at Ace Hotel in New York.

A CORNY CONCERTO

Back in 2012, “A Corny Concerto” represented Jasper Wong’s first foray into Australia. This series of work explored past obsessions alongside new ones, particularly those surrounding graphic explosions of both the comic book and sexual sense. The solo exhibition was held at No Vacancy Gallery in Melbourne, Australia.

LIFE AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW COLLECTION

Developed in collaboration with Hawaiian Airlines, Jasper Wong designed a collection titled “Life at the end of the rainbow”. It featured a cooler, towel, tees, stickers, and even a sock.

Proceeds were donated to further education in the arts for the next generation through Bishop Museum initiatives.
