What we are going to learn?

DeRace NFT horses perform differently on various racetracks: some horses are faster on dirt, some on turf and some on synthetic surfaces.

Performance also depends on racetrack length: some horses are excellent in short distances while some are outstanding in long ones.

Players have to race your NFT horse in different hippodromes to find out what type of races your horse prefers.

In DeRace two NFT horses create a third NFT horse. The player can select male and female horses and add Love Potion NFT to initiate the breeding potion. The horse of the next generation is crested. (For example Gen 0 NFT horses generate Gen 1 offspring).

Both NFT horse tokens are sent to GA (Genetic Algorithm) via Ethereum smart contract. GA generates a third NFT horse combining genes from parent horses, with +- 5% deviation (RNG factor is applied).

Horse renting system that allows players to rent their NFT horse for breeding and racing and earn rewards.

NFT Horse races

Up to 12 horses participate in each race. Every horse participates in the race for a set fee. The winner of the race collects a % of the participants’ fees and also any other additional prizes, which are then automatically transferred to the winner’s account.

Race entry mechanics

All planned races will be displayed on the upcoming races board. Players can access the board and filter the races by date, entrance criteria, entry fee, player quantity, hosting hippodrome, and winning pool, to select the most suitable ones to join.

All horse races take place in hippodromes. Hippodromes in the DeRace metaverse are community owned. The hippodrome owner determines both participation fees and other criteria before each race.

As in the real world, the hippodromes in the DeRace metaverse vary in track length and surface. Some racetracks are shorter, and some — longer distance. The tracks in the hippodromes also have different surfaces: it varies among dirt, turf or synthetic.

Performance boosting assets

Performance boosting asset NFT can be purchased and be used to increase the performance of the racing horse as well as be given out as prizes to the winners.

Once in a while, special tournaments are hosted in the dedicated hippodromes offering exclusive prizes. What technologies DeRace (DERC) created and used?

GA (genetic algorithm) is similar to how biological genetics work in reality, where genes — your DNA — store information about the rest of your body. For example eye, skin and hair color, hair structure, body type, and height. In a GA, numbers represent various characteristics.

NFT + Polygon Smart Contract

Like real-life racehorses, DeRace NFT horses have different traits that define their rarity, performance, and cool-down time. An NFT horse is necessary in order to participate in the races and earn payouts.

NFT horses will also have a levelling system which will unlock their ability to be equipped with various performance buffing/debuffing wearables. Horse level will depend on the amount of experience points collected from participating in races and winning them, and overall activity on the platform.

NFT horse races in the DeRace metaverse

Up to 12 NFT horses can run in the same race. Every horse owner can participate in a hippodrome race for a set fee. The winning horse collects a % of all participant fees and any additional prizes from that race.

With the soon to be launched sustainable DeRace P2E mechanics, players will also be awarded additional in-game assets. By immersing themselves in the gameplay through completing daily/weekly/monthly missions and accomplishing horse and player achievements, players will receive Sugar Cubes (in-game currency which can be used to buy NFT chests and keys), chests, keys. Chests house NFT horse equipment inside which can be used by players to boost their horse’s performance in the race or could be sold to other players.

NFT horse owners can race their horse themselves and soon they will be able to rent their horses to other players and receive a rental fee for it. The renter will keep all the rewards from completing missions, NFT horse will collect experience points for running the races and the horse owner will receive rental fee and any rewards from the horse achievements.

The races are based on RNG technology. Each furlong is split into 10 rolls for every horse, meaning that horse will get 20 calculations for 2 furlong races and 70 for a 7 furlong race. The hidden parameters such as speed, stamina and reaction time influence the winning chances but just like in real life — anything can happen.

DeRace Jockey is a completely new in-game NFT asset which will be shortly introduced into the DeRace metaverse as companion to the NFT horses.

Jockeys are an important game element as through the Jockey and NFT horse symbiosis the player can reach even better performance on the racetrack. Like in real life horse races, Jockeys will help the horse to focus more during the race and to unlock their full potential.

From the technical side, Jockey is an NFT asset that can be used in-game or traded in the secondary market with other players. Each Jockey owns a distinctive silk/uniform differing both in color and patterns, which helps them to be easily recognised during the race.

In the near future players will be able to choose the names for their Jockeys and the registered racing clubs will even get to design special silks for their teams!

NFT horse breeding

To breed a new horse a Liquid Love NFT, $DERC to cover the breeding fee (currently the fee is 50 $DERC) and 2 horses: a mare and a stallion, both with breeding cool-down equal to 0, are needed. Players can either own both horses themselves or use the rent-for-breeding service. Once breeding is initiated, both NFT horses are sent to the Breeding Smart Contract where all the magic happens.

Breeding in the DeRace metaverse is governed by a Genetic Algorithm (GA). GA generates a new NFT horse by combining genes/properties from parent horses, with some deviation (RNG factor is applied). After breeding ends, parent horses and the newly bred NFT horse return to the corresponding wallets and are ready for racing.

The horse breeding cool-down also starts after breeding ends. Each horse has a different cool-down time which is a hidden property. It can vary between 2 weeks to 2 months. Like with speed property in the races, the breeding cool-down is dynamic: each time you breed the horse, cool-down time will be a bit different due to the RNG factor.

DeRace Liquid Love NFT

Liquid Love is a single-use NFT fuelling the horse breeding process in the DeRace metaverse. It can be acquired by contributing to the DeRace ecosystem: single-sided $DERC staking, LP staking, various contests, tournaments, giveaways, Spin-The-Wheel mini game and other activities.

Horse owners can safely rent their NFT horses to other players for breeding and collect the rental fees in $DERC.

NFT horse rental system for breeding and racing

Horse owners will shortly be able to rent their NFT horses to other players for racing.

This feature will be advantageous to players who don’t have enough time to race their NFT horses but want to keep them active and levelled up. The owner will receive rental fee and all the achievement rewards that horse completes during the time it’s been rented out. The renter will collect the rewards from completing daily/weekly/monthly missions such as Sugar Cubes which he can use as in-game currency to acquire chests and keys with various performance buffing/de-buffing items inside. The experience points will go to the NFT horse and will help him to level up.

Horse rental feature also opens up the door for guilds to join our metaverse and rent their owned NFT horses to the scholars. The reward system will work similarly as to the one described above with some minor adjustments. It will be revealed with the launch of our Guild Management System.

DeRace NFT horse equiped with horse wearable items

There are 10 types of NFT horse equipment: saddle, saddle pad, stirrups, lead, bridle, blinkers, ear net, protection boots, horseshoes and turnout blanket. Horse wearables have a different buffing/debuffing effect on the hidden NFT horse parameters which are speed, stamina and reaction time.

Assets differ in their type (10 items), visual appearance, condition grade (new, fair and worn), rarity (5 tiers: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary) and the horse level that they unlock in. The higher the horse level, the more items with different stats NFT horses can be equipped with.

The parameters of each performance boosting asset will be visible, so that the players can pick the most suitable items to equip their NFT horses with. To ensure that the chosen equipment will bring forward their top performance, stable owners need to know the strengths and weaknesses of their NFT horses.

DeRace horse with NFT wearables

NFT horse wearables are in-game utility NFTs that build the immersive game mechanics. The main way for players to acquire NFT horse wearables are as the in-game activity rewards. More specifically, by being active on the platform and accomplishing missions and unlocking achievements.

Active and competitive DeRace players will be awarded with various chests and keys. The chests will have NFT horse equipment inside them and players will be able to unlock them with keys. Keys will also serve as activity rewards, Spin-The-Wheel, racing event prizes and more. The chests will differ in their chance to draw a more rare item (for example, a legendary tier saddle which can be used on a high level NFT horse).

Horse races take place in hippodromes. Currently there are 4 hippodromes in the DeRace metaverse: Greenfield (dirt surface), Paradise Hills (synthetic surface), Emerald Gardens and Sakura Path (both hippodromes sporting a turf surface).

Greenfield is the very first hippodrome that was introduced with the release of DeRace Beta 1.1! Since the launch, the hippodrome has had several visual upgrades such as additional billboards. In the real-life horse racing world dirt is the most common racetrack surface in the US due to the fact that bettors consider dirt racing to be more predictable.

The stamina consumption on this track is the highest compared to other surfaces, making this hippodrome best suited for horses with high endurance. Of course running short distances and making it to the top 3 in this hippodrome is possible for horses with average stamina levels too. The horses with low endurance tend to perform poorly in Greenfield.

Paradise Hills hippodrome with a synthetic surface

Introduced in February 2022 Greenfield hippodrome has quickly became the favourite of the DeRace community because of its vibrant atmosphere and summery vibes. In the horse racing world, synthetic track is believed to reduce injuries to both horses and riders, and can withstand drastic weather changes.

The stamina consumption in Paradise Hills hippodrome is medium, making this hippodrome well-suited for horses with average to high stamina. All horses can reach their peak potential in shorter distances on the synthetic surface. It is also the best hippodrome to test the stamina parameter, since its consumption decreases continuously throughout the race.

Emerald Gardens hippodrome was inspired by metropolitan cities such as London or New York that have preserved their historical parks. It is the latest hippodrome that stands out with the longest racetrack of 16 furlong. However, since it has the longer races it’s the smoothest hippodrome from the stamina perspective

Long distance races in Emerald Gardens are perfect for horses with medium to high stamina levels. The main variable that determines the horse’s performance in this hippodrome is speed!

Sakura Path hippodrome with a turf surface

Sakura Path hippodrome was introduced to the DeRace metaverse in November 2022. Our second hippodrome with the turf surface is characterised by blooming cherry trees, Far East architecture and early morning ambience. Get ready to race your NFT horses among the falling sakura blossoms!

Emerald Gardens hippodrome with a turf surface is well suited for horses of all stats, since the consumption of stamina on this surface is the lowest. The main variable that determines the NFT horse’s performance in this hippodrome (like in Emerald Gardens hippodrome) is speed!

In the near future hippodrome ownership will transfer to the community and it will be set in NFT hippodrome tokens. One hippodrome contains 10 000 individual NFT tokens, therefore, the player can own a part of the whole hippodrome.

Every race has a particular amount of horses. The number of horses used for the race is also set by the owner and this is done in the Hippodrome after fees have been settled. The winner of the event receives all the fees and a portion of all the bets.
